i need a life
It’s funny. One never really expects anybody to become who they become, but when really does anyone “become” anything? How does any individual essentially come to be? By the choices they make? By the chances they take? By the rules that they break? You get the picture, don’t you? Sure, it’s all a little cliche but what isn’t these days? Life is nothing more a collection of “do’s” and “don’ts” that have been passed and filtered through this kaleidoscopic society in which we live. Certainly societal norms will change over time, it’s inevitable. Just think to yourself how many television shows involved pregnant adolescents five years ago. Where did this fascination even come from? Is it perhaps that we as humans find solace in the fact that we can drown out our own issues by vicariously living the life of another for 30 minutes? Is it also possible that these programs enable the viewer to sympathize or even empathize for another, giving the viewer a small boost of self esteem? Then again, who really cares? I’m a tad disenchanted by this whole reality TV thing. I couldn’t care less about your collection of children. Hoarding garbage in your home is now the new big thing on the television; hoarding children is so 2009 anyways.
So as you can tell I inadvertently (maybe, maybe not) digressed from my original point of discussing why, how, or when an individual actually “becomes” something. I’m tired though so that will have to wait. I know nobody reads these anyways but maybe i’ll write more.
Over&out.
